Silence

The silence of the moon
deafens me this morning
as it sets in the west,
its brilliant rays a pale
and slender white,
unlike the obtrusive yellow beams
that discover me
no matter where I hide during the day.
These moon rays caress me
and I love them and
the quiet stillness they bring
Not silence because silence is deafening,
but stillness, because it is the calm
before the day.
