Happy
Does she look happy enough for you now?
To convince you that she’s fine?
That she doesn’t need your help
Because she can’t admit that she does.
Does she smile enough for you now?
To satiate your thirst
To believe the universal falsity?
That this smile has never frowned,
That these eyes have never cried,
That this laugh has never seen sorrow.
They say:
“It’s ok to be yourself.”
“It’s ok to cry.”
“It’s ok to feel.”
But they look down on her
When she makes the mistake
Of feeling something real
And makes the bigger mistake
Of letting it show.

People (especially girls) are universally pressured to be a perfect. One aspect of that is always being seen as happy, rather than being themselves.
