Bye Felicia
Waking up at 6:00 to the blaring sound of my alarm
I rise and perform my morning routine
And I think to myself
Today is going to be a wonderful day
And it wasn’t because I was going to school
I was going to see my Goat
I catch the Bloomfield bus at 7:15
And notice the veterinarian, Mr Brown, fast asleep
I was eager to approach him again but I decided to let him alone
For I knew we would meet at home.
I alight at Taco Bell at Civic Square and buy some nacho fries for lunch
Then stopped by at Mr Logan’s mini mart and buy a can of Soda
Crossed the road
And salute the Irvington firefighters
I arrive at Irvington High School
But I still can’t keep my feet together
I’m jumping with excitement
Cause for the first time I can’t wait to actually go back to my house at Hardgrove Terrace.
As soon as the clock struck three
I was on the bus on my way to happiness
I arrived at Harper Avenue at 3:15
I rush home, drop my bag and run straight to the back m
of the house
To meet my goat, Felicia
My pregnant goat
She was going to put to bed today
And I was determined not to miss it
It was 10: 30 at night and she still hadn’t given birth
The vet already left, saying he will be back the next day
I retire back to the house as it was already dark
And I had school tomorrow
Waking up at 6:00 to the blaring sound of my alarm
I rise and perform my morning routine
I rush out to see if my goat had given birth
But instead, I was met with a pungent smell
My goat was encircled with flies
Eyes open but I knew she couldn’t see
I advanced towards Felicia
And as soon as I saw her clearly
I inhaled a sharp breath
