Christmas

Excitement settles in my stomach as I wake up on Christmas day.

With full blown energy I sprint down the stairs

There, I gaze upon the dozens of presents left under the tree

I glance over at the plate of cookies and glass of milk

All the cookies were eaten and the glass was empty

Which meant Santa had come to my house

I strut over to my stocking and stumble upon pieces of candy

I thank God that I didn’t get coal this year

Now as a 17 year-old I miss the way I viewed Christmas

It was so innocent and whimsical
