Above All
My soul aches to join the clouds
And soar through the blue expanses above.
The extension of body into this rumbling, winged machine
catching the sunlight over silver wings.
I want to frame the world below me;
A painting where I soar above all.
My soul calls out to the warbirds of the past
And my thoughts drift to the skies
To fling gravity into oblivion and leave the bonds of earth
lifting toward the heavens
Joining the memory of those whose flights departed,
And living their legacy, above all.
