An Unaged Connection
Parents tell us as children,
To wait until your older, for a certain love to come.
That finding a passion so strong, cannot possibly be done.
And certainly not when young…
But if this the case,
and what they say is true,
I may have broken the rules, just by loving you.
For every laugh we shared, every moment spent as an eternity,
Every hope held, isn’t this not a friendship?
Your face is no longer weathered like sandstone,
And your walk no longer short,
For you were always young to me, never did you distort.
But now that I’m older I can clearly see,
Our time is running short.
And so as Grand father and son,
I hope parents don’t make any more rules about what love should have to be.
Because no matter what happens,
You’ll always be the one standing beside me.
