spring

she walks with the grace of a fairy,

her footsteps butterfly-light

as she pads across the clearing,

colors bursting from tree branches

she twirls

as warmth slowly blossoms

across her cheeks

in a rosy, angelic glow,

honey in her radiant smile

illuminating

the swaying flowers

like rippling mountains

petals stained with

violet, rose, lilac, azure

--

summer

she continues to saunter,

light tumbling

through her fingertips,

spilling onto the leaf-strewn ground

she pauses, watches

brilliant, infinite, cloud-speckled blue

extends its tender, brushing hand,

caressing the emerald leaves

with a golden touch

she laughs

and sunlight escapes from her lips,

bouncing across bright treetops,

reflecting off of

the morning dewdrops

--

fall

she quickens her pace gently,

ever so gently, her fingers graze

the tip of an emerald leaf

it shrivels and cascades

to the ground

a whisper of a wind

wraps itself around her,

lifting her hair

into an elegant twist

she buries herself

in mounds of browning leaves,

scarlet, pumpkin,

bronze, and gold

cloud her vision

--

winter

the affectionate breeze

turns into a merciless gale

veins of frost

crystallize in her hair

she rises

shaking off leaves

that freeze in midair

her breath giving way

to ashen clouds

she stares

into the rich gold

gaze of the sun

succumbing to

eternal gray slumber
