Can we fix Christmas?
As soon as October draws near,
The world is filled with joy and cheer
For Christmas time is very close,
And our excited souls already know.
But what has become of our sweet holiday?
Is it’s original meaning still here today?
Or have gifts and greed taken over the role
Of what should be a cleansing of the soul?
As every cheesy writer has attested before,
“Christmas should be about giving, not getting and nothing more.”
However, as hard as we try
We still know this to be a lie.
Some may call it human nature,
But these some are also the fakers.
The ones who give up and blame
Are the ones who should feel the most shame,
Here’s an idea I propose
It really isn’t that crazy, I suppose.
Not necessarily taking the gifts away,
But moving them and making way
So that you and others can enjoy Christmas time.
Sadly this behavior is precious and hard to find.
Never fear, this isn’t impossible
Because most forms of bad habits are stoppable.
To put it simply, don’t focus on what’s under the tree
Focus on where you want to be.
