Inside

Recognize the look upon my face
to which I know that you have seen before,
wrap me in a blanket of warm stories,
and tell the truths of a long-gone yesterday.
The beginning starts now, we have begun a new age
in time.
Welcome to my world.
Here, we have cookies, and fleece blankets.
We have honesty and integrity
bestowed upon each and every person
who enters.
Take a stroll through my walls and feel yourself
linger.
Or maybe, if you don't like it,
maybe you can go to another,
and seek comfort in their walls, instead.
I know you are one of kindness
and an obvious passion for helping people.
And without a doubt, I need all the help I can get.
If you do not like what you come across,
please do not tell me.
I have been trying,
trying
and trying
not to break at the slightest step
that you take
inside myself.
As you feel yourself
getting comfortable in another's mind,
getting comfortable in mine as well,
I wonder if you really want to be in mine at all.
After all, if you sought comfort in me,
and truly found it,
why is there another?
Why must I have to compete, like it is a game?
Is it a game?
Why must you break down my walls if you only want them up again right after?
Was...
Was I a mistake?
I must have been if you regret opening me up and letting me trust you.
I am sorry, truly sorry,
that you have been mistaken
by my warmth.
You do not want me,
but rather what I portray to be

Inside is a poem about someone gaining trust, only to break it, and with it, me
