I'll Miss You
You told me you have a disease.
That it can't be cured.
That one day you won't even remember yourself, let alone me.
And I'll miss you. Because you're my family.
Because you've been there when others weren't.
Because you've always made me feel like I mattered.
Because even after everything I've done, you're still my best friend.
You're still my family.
You're still here.
I don't think I can face it, ever seeing you once you're like that.
Because it'll hurt.
My tears already feel like glass, burning down my skin, how will it be when you're fully gone?
I just know that I love you. And I'll miss you.

Written to a grandparent, who will never read this. She'll never know just how much she means to me before she doesn't remember.
