The drum of feet
Loosens the soggy gravel
Before me.
I run.
The downpour
Persists.
Left foot, right foot, left foot
Is all that can push through
The fog of my stormy thoughts.
The road before me
Is too long.
Thunder reverberates,
Swirling around my brain and
Between my ears,
Like a cannon to the head.
