The air conditioner was blowing into the car as fast as Road Runner running from Wile E. Coyote,

My nose is as cold as a Klondike bar.

I focused quickly on the swamp beside the car as my brother asked,

“Are we there yet?”

I’m just barely awake.

All I can see is the back of the cream colored passenger seat,

of my mother’s Toyota Corolla.

“About 5 minutes left!”

Says my mother, smile across her face, loud and proud.

As we pull in and finally stop, I can hear the seagulls squawking.

We have reached our destination!

I can feel the wind blowing on my face, chilly.

We walk into the lobby of the resort and are instantly greeted with a front desk.

Up the stairs, running quickly, down the hall, running quickly.

Room 201, our room for the week.

My dad walks in with a big “Wow!”

He’s astonished that our room has a second floor.

We all go upstair and see what’s up there.
It’s a bed and a TV.

Not much, but pretty epic to have stairs in your room.

We get settled in and go on the deck.

The sound of waves crashing infiltrated my ears along with an epic breeze.

The waves were making the wind colder than usual

The smell of salt water overwhelmed my nose.

It was worth the wait.
