Alive
The curtains swing open
And the bright lights hit me.
Nothing but black blobs in the audience
Staring,
Watching my every movement.
I keep a smile on my face
But my eyes
Are glimmering with fear.
The fear slowly melts away
Like snow on a very hot day.
And I feel like I am flying
Free as a bird.
Gliding across the stage
Like a swan glides across the water.
When the music stops
Everyone starts clapping and cheering.
That's when I realized,
Performing,
Is one of the things,
That will always be in my heart.

I wrote about when I performed at a dance competition for the first time. This poem is very special to me because it made me realize that performing is what I want to do.
