dandelion

at first glance
she looks like a dandelion
weak and worn and withering
whipping about in the harsh wind
bending at its command
one blow away from destruction
one pluck away from death
but what they don’t know
is that she survived the winter
that shook her body and ripped away her honor
she withstood every storm and season
every wind and water
her roots were too stubborn
her torso too strong
her petals too prideful
to ever let the cold or rain or darkness
wilt her.
