Where I am from
I am from Little Rascals
from Crocs and Baby alive
I am from the cardboard houses
(Tall, colorful,
it seemed tall)
I am from oak trees, lemon trees,
And Spanish moss
I’m from limo rides and
blue eyes
From Chip, Wendy, and Matthew
I’m from loud and obnoxious
People who cannot see and
Too many cousins to count
I’m from church every Sunday
And celebrating Christ’s birth
I’m from Sicily
Meatballs and spaghetti
All my uncles named Vincent
And crazy Maw Maw Gerry
Sitting in the frames
On the shelves
I’m from my family who
Lay their history before me
