I am hopeful but lazy
I am hopeful but lazy.
I wonder what my future will be.
I hear the muffled speaking of teachers.
I see a computer screen staring back at me.
I want knowledge.
I am hopeful but lazy.
I pretend I will start doing better in school.
I feel bored out of my mind.
I touch the cold keys as I type my poem.
I worry that this isn’t going to count.
I cry at my average grades knowing I can do better.
I am hopeful but lazy.
I understand all I need to do is pay attention.
I say I will ace this test.
I dream of going to college and graduating.
I try to trick myself into studying.
I hope I can do better in school.
I am hopeful but lazy.
