Death's Domain
When I walked in, I had no idea what to expect
A strange scent
Flowers, wood finishing
None of it mixed.
Dust unstirred,
Drapes across from the casket ends still
The people quiet
No movement from the casket
Peace at last
The walls had criss-crossed, blue diamond patterns
Fancy chandeliers, making shadows from people dance
The building, with its new wood finish, was still old
Wooden pews following suit with the building
Death had overcome this place.
No matter where you walked,
Death reigned.
