Maybe it was the way I talked,

The words I used,

The way I used them,

Maybe it was my sentences as a whole that threw you off,

The way my S’s sound,

Or the way my R’s sound,

But did you even take notice in that?

Or was that only me that noticed those small things?

Maybe it was the way my body moved,

As a whole or each limb individually,

My stride of walk,

Or my little skips whenever I get bored,

What about how I stumble a lot,

Maybe you noticed how clumsy I am,

But did you ever notice the little things about me?

Or did only I noticed these things about you?

What about my mindset?

How I try to perceive life optimistically,

How no matter what there is a brighter side to every situation,

Although I don’t always follow that; I follow that enough for it to be obvious,

Whether it was when you were ranting to me,

Or just talking about scenarios in general,

Did you listen to what I said back?

How I always point out something good or beneficial that comes with it?

Or were you too busy sending that snapchat?

Your mind on something else while I stare blankly at you through the camera,

Your occasional glimpse up followed with a smile and the simple what?

How come you noticed that?

Or at least made it obvious you noticed that?

Because I never knew if you noticed the other things,

And maybe you did and it was the opposite situation,

You looking at me yet me not realizing it,

Maybe you were glimpsing at me here and there without me catching you,

Maybe in those moments you noticed those small details,

But just like everything else…

That came to an end,

Just Like my little skips, I stopped and continued walking,

Just Like our long conversations of sentences after sentences, it became word after word,

And eventually after multiple exchange of eye contact through our facetime calls they were over as well,

With feelings and motions…

Never to be fulfilled again.

The author's comments:

As a teen who favors poetry over any other writing I have found a way to express a deep feeling that many can relate to, without even realizing it. This piece has a deeper underlying message than originally intended. This piece is not particularly associated with anyone. Although, as I have been told it is a very relatable piece to teens emotional mindset when it comes to feelings towards others now a days.
