To Walk a Mile
To walk a mile in my shoes, sure would be a feat.
To wring a man right by his neck, then go home to eat.
To smile in the face of evil and beat the enemies.
To walk a mile in my shoes, would ware the toughest soles.
To bury your friends six feet deep, seems nearly impossible.
To grow a kinship with the men who watched you shed tears,
Sure would strike the toughest heart with uptmost fear.
The scariest of all, would be the coming home.
To walk a mile in my shoes, sure does seem like something.
The solem looks come from every angle, but I thank God every day
That I walk with my fighting angels.
To walk the miles in my shoes, through storm and war and hurt
Sure does seem tough, but the coming home was worse.
