A Test of Faith
Faith is a fine invention
When people feel small or helpless.
Some find their place
In the entropy of the universe,
the miracle of chance,
And in the random occurrences that allow us to exist,
Like a raft set into the ocean with no preordained destination.
Faith has its place, but
Those that give themselves license
To control their lives,
Confident as a captain on rough seas,
Will find peace
Among randomness.
People who give license to something greater
Find peace in crisis
Believing
It all means something.
Perhaps we can find serenity
In our similarities
Refusing to worry about where we put our
Faith.
Regardless of our beliefs and philosophies,
We all share the same goal.

I was inspired to write this piece by my grandparents and the differences in our beliefs, and while we are opposites of each other in that way, I find that it never gets in the way of our relationship.
