The trip of a lifetime

I was about to enter without any troubles, but a black man dressed in a tour guide outfit, who looked very out of sorts, stumbled upon me asking me if I wanted tickets for the full guide of the colosseum.
My whole adventure started when we docked on the cruise ship in Italy, but I forgot where. I woke up that morning full of joy,” I am ready to have fun!” Even though I was tired, I managed to get out of bed and dressed to eat at the buffet. We had to leave the ship at 8:30 AM, to get to our tour bus to drive us to the Colosseum and famous art museums, which I had no interest in.
I was walking to breakfast, going up one floor on the elevator, and I saw my dad follow behind me. “We only have 20 minutes to eat, bud.”
I nodded with approval. “Okay, Dad.”
I saw my brother’s eyes, Trey, open when he saw the food. “I’m ready for today!”
After the breakfast, we all loaded up to leave the ship. I was full of energy, and for many reasons.
I saw a man, and he signaled us to him.
“Our bus is almost leaving get on quick!”
I saw my family get on the bus, and I was the last one. We took the last row of the cool looking modern bus.
I then heard this loud Italian voice that was getting louder by the second.
“Welcome to Norwegian Tours! Today we are going to Leonardo DaVinci’s Art Museum and the Colosseum.”
We started moving and suddenly, we were moving fast, on the opposite side of the road.
My stomach was growling, and I couldn’t figure out why. We then passed another tour bus that had the same modern sleek look as ours. I then started talking on and on for our 3-hour bus ride.
“I wish there was WIFI! My phone is only on 24% though. I wish it was charged. I must’ve forgotten to charge it in our room.”
My sister was sitting next to me on my right and my left was the window so that I could take pictures and see the scenery.
“Oooo this is so pretty!”
I’ve always hated how dramatic girls are about things. “It’s just cool.”
“It’s both!”
By the time I had all my talking down, we were at the art museum. These next moments of my life were the most boring moments ever. First off, I don’t know, care, or think that art is good. Second, I don’t like walking around in a fat circle around paintings that don’t mean anything. I saw the mass of art and wanted to leave, and so did my parents. My brother had a red face, with a bad attitude, and my sister was walking around on her phone- but sadly mine was dead.
“CAN WE LEAVE?” Exclaimed my brother.
My sister was getting angry now.
“YESSS PLEASE”
I wanted to join the arguments but suddenly saw our group walk back to the bus.
“YAYYYY! We are finally done. Now we can go to the colosseum.”
The bus ride from the museum to the colosseum was about 30 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all compared to the three-hour bus ride.
I could hear the tour guide say many things but couldn’t make out what they were since her accent was so hard to understand.
“20 minutes until we arrive! Who’s excited?”
“I am!”
When we were about 15 minutes out, our tour guide passed out radios and earbuds. At that point, I heard my sister and brother say,
“What even are these?”
When they are that age no one really expects them to know, so I told them.
“Plug it in to the radio, and you’ll be able to hear her voice as you walk around, since it is so crowded.”
“Thanks Chace!”
“Yep!” I replied.
We walked in as a group to the Colosseum. It wasn’t guarded with gates but had Italian Army personnel with HUMVEES. There were so many people. I thought to my self-many times that if someone got lost, there was no finding them.
My sister always studied stuff, especially in school, even weeks before the test even happened. But this time, she knew everything about the history of the Colosseum. She explained it better than any tour guide could.
“And this has been standing for thousands of years, and even though it has chunks missing, it’s still very sturdy.”
I was amazed by the engineering of a building that was made a very long time ago.
We walked around for a brief time and as soon as we saw everything, I heard the tour guide say something.
“Everyone, it’s time to go. Let’s get on the bus!”
When she said that, I was sad and happy for our next adventure, all in my mind.
“Can we come back next year!”
“Ha-ha, maybe!”, My mom said.
We entered the bus and was happy to feel the AC blow on us after the 95-degree weather. The duration of the ride back home was 3 hours, give or take. The bus was nice inside, way better than a taxi.
“Are we almost at the ship?”
“2 more hours, Chace” I could hear my mom’s voice softly, because of the loud highway noise the bus was making.
I was thinking of what I saw in the colosseum and fell asleep. I was sleeping for 2 hours, but when I woke up I could hear the tour guide talking.
“30 more minutes!”
I then went to sleep again. I was very tired that day after all the walking. I woke up when we were pulling into the cruise ship lot and I could see our Norwegian Epic, looking massive compared to the other small boats. We all got out, thanked our guide and driver, and headed to the ship.
“Welcome back to your Norwegian Epic ship! I hope you had a great excursion!”
“We did!” I wished I could tell him our story of adventure.
