“A Book Without Pictures”
Mango-colored skies envelop the clouds.
The dew awakens and the world blinks in soft yellow hues.
The sun opens its eyes to a sky painted with pastels.
She rests on the pear-colored ground.
Her eyes tumble across the withered pages.
She is reminded of sunlight and fresh figs.
Compressed between the pages, she falls,
mumbling freely over the soft words.
Surfaces collide and reflect, come together and part.
Her wonderland is composed of fragments,
They blend in a melody of ink and imagination.
Skies deepen as the pages flutter closed,
Flat faces and plain surfaces float above her
like dense, smoky clouds.
She sees outlined charcoal faces.
The world is a composition of empty eyes.
Skies deepen in maroons and tangerines,
Cherry rain occupies her mind.
Vision painted with dark shades.
Ridges of ink, torn canvases.
Blots and salted streaks.
