Effortless
i’m hiding
from the world
from you;
i don’t know why
you know me better than anyone;
i tell lie after lie
to prevent the truth from coming out
but it’s effortless;
because i wear the truth on my sleeve
i feel your hand inside mine
whispering warm words, saving words;
yet it’s effortless;
my train of thought is a deadly one
one second close to crashing;
reaching up high
yelling to a cloudless sky;
look into my eyes
they scream of despair;
crushing pain, meaningless gain
that’s what they hold, that’s what they say
nothing will save me;
cold and dark will put me to sleep
i'm a broken girl;
but that’s okay
it’s all effortless;

This poem is one of my favorites out of all the ones I’ve written. It was inspired by the Twenty One Pilots song “Screen”. It is a emotional piece and I hope you enjoy it!
