I walk in through the doors and see nothing but an empty stage—

I am soil, meaningless until a new beginning decides to grace me.

I desperately urge to join the pack—

I am a seedling, longing to push through the dirt.

I see people trickle in—

I begin to have second thoughts...

I let a few days pass—

I grow taller and taller, reaching for the heavens.

I see my name on the list—

I bloom.

We are the sun—

We shine brighter than any of God’s creations.

We are children giggling in the lawn—

We scream our favorite hymns riding down the highway.

We unpack each other like picnics—

We know the mental illness she deals with, we know he cheated.

We are handcuffed at the wrists—

We chose to be.

I feel the lights hit my face—

I am home.

We are leaves falling from the everchanging trees.

We take one last bow.

We embrace like our lives depend on the warmth from one another.

We let our tears

                                     fall

                              like

                                        snowflakes.

I force myself away.

I walk in through the doors and see nothing but an empty stage—
