Where I Am From..
I am from bedtime stories
I’m from music to culture
I am from thanksgiving wishes,
To Christmas campfires,
I’m from sunflowers,
With a golden touch like angels
I’m from Easter Sunday church to curled blonde hair
I am from trips to Mamak and cousins from far away
From sunshine and smiles
I’m from Fort Worth, Dallas
I am from crosses to scripture
From coffee and waffles
To birthdays with friends
I’m from laughter and stories
From life before
I’m from cheerleading to competitions
I am from fish and guinea pigs,
To puppies and lizards
I’m from spiders to mice
And camping under the stars
From snow to blue skies
And some goodbyes
I’m reading and writing
I am from dance and gymnastics
From weddings to funerals
I am from making new memories
And a place I will forever call my home.
