I am from blow drying the dishes to melting the ice.

Putting plastic bags over my kicks playing in the snow.

Unable to start cars due to sub zero temperatures.

I am from buying a new pair of boots and sneakers every year.

From hitching rides from mom and friends to school.

To taping shoes to cover the holes in the summer.

I am from jumping into the dirty, damp and dark Rock River

From homemade kool aid popsicles to chillin like a polar bear with friends.

Swimming, sun and steaming afternoons at the pool.

I am from bruised knuckles and a iced face.

I am from going to quinceanera’s every month and dance recitals.

I am from tired nights of san andreas and spicy takis.

I am from screeching bottle rockets in the 4th July sky.

From ultimate kickball in the cul de sac with the homies.

From making friends everywhere.

I am from helping grandma every weekend after the mercia surgery.

From underage cruising to get her medication and groceries.

From cleaning her crib to getting her favorite sweet treat. Juju’s!

I am from a lot of places. Where I’m from.
