The Night I Danced With The Moon

I got out of bed and walked through the dark house in my pajama pants and a stained t-shirt. Stepping out into the city night wasn’t exactly calming by any means. But when I took a deep breath and focused on the sky. I felt myself looking past the city lights and staring into the stars. And at one point I thought I'd caught them until I realized it was actually the stars who'd caught me! They were taking me with them, taking me up into the night. I was looking down at my house.  Then the stars encircled me and lifted me up until I was beaming down at the whole city. And it was so different from up there in the stars. Suddenly the city seemed beautiful. Even the smoke in the air and the car headlights piercing through the night were beautiful. I regretted complaining about the ugliness of it all. It made me wonder if maybe the stars felt that way about themselves. It made me want to take the stars down to the city so that they could look up at themselves. I wondered what they would think of themselves, looking up into the night.

Then the stars took me to the moon. I talked with the moon. I asked the moon why I was there. The moon smiled and responded by telling me to look down at the city. I looked at it again and marveled. Then the moon told me to look around, and look at the stars. I became enamoured of the stars and marveled at them too. Then the moon danced with me, and I danced with the moon. We danced together until dawn. Then I sat with the moon, and we watched the sun rise.
