Attention
She's little
her wrists thin,
tiny waist
prominent cheekbones
She's respected
rosy cheeks
thin frame
stunning smile
They see her now as
precisely what they wanted:
thin,
beautiful
She has reached the apex of her life
and yet,
it's ending
every hour a fading moment
she's little
brittle bones
yellow features
disappearing hair
She's dying
and suddenly
No one sees.

Please note in reading this piece that anorexia will never be a disease affecting only women. I included a woman in my piece only because it related to my personal story most accurately, and felt it was simpler to describe in detail. I wanted to include entirely truth in my story, and knew writing in the perspective of a man might inhibit this.
If you or someone you know is struggling from anorexia, don't ever be afraid to seek help. There are locations specifically designed for those struggling through these or similar instances without people at home with which to speak.
