Ode to my Morning Walks to Class
My eyes tingle as they’re struck by the potent morning light
I tread along the well-known sidewalk and check the clock
Plug my headphones in
To the same playlist I’ve been listening to all month
I walk
I turn my head to both sides, I cross
And I keep on walking
With no one at all whom to talk
Nature whispers to me
Indistinct words far from my knowledge
My body welcomes the warm gentle hugs from above
As I wake up to my own free thoughts chirping like the birds above
My blood keeps pumping down my veins
My eyes look back to the traveled path
To think a little
To breathe a little
To walk a little
I hear the faint voices and gaze out to the gate
My thoughts are gone, my world is gone
I’m sucked back to reality
I’m ready to start
