Morning Hike
Rugged
Dirt path
Undisturbed
Fog fills the air
Silence
Other than the occasional bird chirp
Cold
The chilly breeze rushes past
You pull your jacket tighter
Looking out
A sea of green and white haze
Majestic mountains rising out
Calm yet breathtaking

At Teen Writing Institute summer camp at SJSU, the teacher asked us to write about paintings. I wrote this poem after seeing a painting of a man standing at a summit, looking over the beautiful landscape in front of him. I was reminded of the many hikes I've been on and the awe-inspiring views and the feeling of openness and freedom in nature. I tried to express my emotions in this poem.
(The image I attached to this poem was the closest thing I found, which is not very similar. There aren't very many image options here.)
