Eulogy
To all of you, friends and family,
We are gathered here today
To remember the one and only me.
Didn’t do a lot, I’m not gonna lie.
Went to college, got a job.
Now look at me, I died.
I got killed by an elephant,
It happened just last week.
The mortician fixed my body up,
So I had to take a peek.
He could have just not seen me,
Or got scared by a mouse.
All I know is I looked up
And his foot was coming down.
I had my ups and downs in life.
Trust me, it flashes by.
You all will say I went too soon,
But there’s no need to cry.
I lost my life in Africa,
As happy as can be.
Birds were singing, trees were swaying
On a beautiful safari.

"Eulogy" was inspired by my fear of death. In order to get over how terrified I was with the idea of dying, I wrote this poem to make death seem less threatening and innocent instead of tainted.
