excerpt from the book i’ll never write
  her eyes are closed tightly
  the charcoal ribbons
  have bound her body,
  clenched and skintight.
  knots of ebony hair,
  roughened coat of silver sharpness,
  a heart of burdensome stone.
  the growl of depression
  screeches beneath her screen
  the markings of clawed
  at skin scrape away
  at the inexperienced flesh
