"I am Happy to The Point of Fear" -Ralph Waldo Emmerson

The shivers are never new,
but I shiver here in the snow,
Standing, hands in my pockets,
face uplifted, trying not to show,

Letting the ice bring me down,
To sit on the ground, better to hear,
hear who is coming up behind me,
Eyes closed, enveloped in fear.

Snow on my cheek,
Cold and yet it comforts me,
I feel the cold and smile,
It means I am still breathing.

My shivers continues,
And i laugh at the funny ways i twitch,
For these moments in the cold,
i no longer have that itch.

I can stand here, and fall,
i can close my eyes, see nothing at all,
I can listen to the blanketed silence,
As it is broken by a Blue Jay's call.

The Blue jay, much like me,
Is trapped within this cold,
not used to the freezing temperatures,
but has decided to be bold.

It carries on, It flies on the wind,
With the strength it thought it couldn't obtain,
The snow falls on my face, awakening,
As I forget my frozen pain.
