This, is my final chance
before the leaves begin their dance
and slowly we will part our ways,
become new characters in different plays.

I sigh and stare at the setting sun,
the old has ended and the new has begun.
Except, as the horizon turns pink to gray;
I suddenly have a lot more to say.

But, alas, I have waited far too long.
The crickets sing her solemn song.
You tell me that you have to go,
I smile meekly and say, I know.

The words are perched upon my lip
and I think of every great courtship.
Of forbidden and love unprofessed,
the second one being of love unaddressed.

Like how I’ll never declare my love for you.
Were leaving tomorrow, goodbye and adieu.
So now is my moment,
put fear aside.
I will force our paths to collide.

My heart begins to fill with sand.
and impulsively, I grab your hand.
You look as if you know what’s next.
So, I quickly run through every text,
of various romance novels that I’ve read
in the celestial solitude of my bed.
But nothing comes,
it’s all opaque,
See you over thanksgiving break
