From the start, their paths aligned,

His smile was warm, his voice was kind,

A steady presence, calm and close,

That brought her heart to a gentle doze.

Through the years, he softly spoke,

Each word a thread, building their trust,

A bond between them, strong yet close,

Her heart was at peace, as it knew it must.

But as time passed, things began to change,

The warmth in his eyes now felt too close,

Something about it felt off, strange--

A touch that lingered, close like a ghost.

She tried to ignore it, told herself it was fine,

Maybe just a phase, just for now.

But her thoughts kept spinning, caught in a bind,

Unsure of what had changed, or how.

She told herself it was just growing up,

That she’d understand in time,

But moments once bright turned to dust,

And trust unraveled, line by line.

The bond she thought was steady and sure

Grew clouded with doubts she couldn’t erase,

And the fate she’d felt, once so secure,

Was slowly replaced by uneasy space.

Then one day, everything came to light,

Whispers unveiled buried secrets,

What once felt safe was now filled with fright,

As the truth tore apart what had felt so right.

The man she thought she knew so well,

Was not the same one she had perceived.

She stood there, feeling the betrayal swell,

Her heart aching, lost in what she’d grieved.

As she stepped forward, she accepted her truth,

Memories lingered, shaping her heart,

She thought of the moments, once small in youth,

Gentle shifts, like whispers that start.

A reminder that not all is as it seems,

That warmth can mask what hides in the night.

As she moved on, she embraced her dreams,

Finding her way and trusting her light.
