The Race to the Bottom

Constructed in a mere thirty days

Meant to prow the endless waves

My wels are weak and my rivets are loose

I don’t know expect I shall go further than an old goose

But unconcerned and unpersuaded

My master christened me unabated

The bottle broke and I was off to float

Yet, after five minutes I did not float no longer

For as my haul touched the water, my rivets broke and I was torn asunder

I wrote this about the Liberty ships of World War II and how many were constructed as quickly as possible and many fell apart quickly soon after launch becauise they were made hastily.
