Favorite Quote:
"They laugh at me because I'm different; I laugh at them because they're all the same."

Because sometimes, they are the only things that satisfy me

The cuts on my wrists, legs, and knees

Burns on my back and hands

Show that I survived

I was strong enough to survive.

I survived the struggle, the guilt, the pain, the worry

I survived the heartbreaks, the harassment, and the gory

I survived the worst of the worst

I love all my scars, cuts, and bruises

Because they show that I was strong enough to beat the battle

That battle I survived with a mind that tries to die

With a body that fights to stay alive

I survived…

TW: suicide, depression, self-harm

Kami L'le wrote this piece right after her last suicide attempt when she finally opened her eyes and realized the beauty the world has in store. Although her battle with depression is not yet over, she has learned to express her emotions through the vibrant colors of writing. She hopes that young teenagers battling depression, or working to overcome it, will read her poem and begin to love their battle scars because they too were and are strong enough to survive. We believe in you!
