BaTHuMp bAthUmP
BaTHuMp bAthUmP
?
Thump, thump, only thing I can do
My owner sleeps without a clue
The man standing behind the door
Every night, it creaks some more
Bathump, bathump, only sound I can make
Every night, my owner ceases to wake
Wake! There is a man plotting to rid your eye
Wake up! Just listen to my silent cry!
Each night, he comes to watch you close
And I beat madly, quicken pulse
BATHUMP BATHUMP please wake up soon
Can’t you hear his murderous tune?
HE’S COMING! HE’S COMING! RUN, SCREAM!
The lantern is revealing its beam
He comes closer with murderous intent
Pulling the bed over with no relent
And now that my master is dead
I live the nightmare that I dread
I watch the limbs get torn apart
That’s when the hysteria starts
BATHUMP BATHUMP goes the faraway me
There is nothing left but his crazy glee
BATHUMP BATHUMP! The glee turns into fear
The police are coming, my death is near
BATHUMP BATHUMP it’s ending soon
Before the downfall of the moon
Three wooden planks with broken parts
One thing left, a
Silent
Beating
Heart

I wrote this piece as an assignment where we have to rewrite The Telltale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe. I chose to rewrite it in the form of a rhyming poetry and in the point of view of the heart. I hope people will read this and see a general resemblance between the original and the rewrite but still have fun reading this nonetheless.
