Dear Football
Dear Football,
You have raised me,
Made me stronger,
Faster,
Smarter, and more aware of my surroundings.
You have changed me in a way that no human has ever changed me,
You have made me take pride in my mistakes,
To go back
And to fix those mistakes.
You have made me happy,
You have made me angry,
But most importantly
You have made me into the person I am today.
I was once a Warrior,
And will always be a Warrior.
From the games in 3rd grade where we got snacks after,
To being the ECC champs in high school.
Football,
You have taught me more than I could ask for.
Not only have you taught me about football things,
Like keeping your head in front of the players when tackling,
Getting low while blocking,
And to never lead with your head down,
But you have taught me things about my own character.
Thing like doing every single thing to the best of your ability,
Like showing up to everything,
Like doing the little things in life,
Like picking up your friend after they have been knocked down.
Things like wiping off that blood from your lip and to keep pushing,
Like instead of taking the easy way out, push yourself to take the hard way.
Football,
You have made me into a much better person.
Physically, mentally and even emotionally
From increasing my weights,
To winning games
Even carrying over into the classroom,
Like doing that annoying extra credit and staying up late to finish that homework.
So football,
Thank you,
For making me into a much better person,
I will stick with you for as long as I can
And once I can’t anymore,
I will keep you in my heart.
