Fear Evolving
Fear is the monster under the bed
or the creature out in the dark
Fear is the beast with multiple heads
or getting shocked on the slide at the park
Fear is the kid whose cowardly character boasts
or the threat of dodgeball teams last
Fear is exclusion from the party she hosts
or that someone disapproves from my past
Fear is boredom from society’s mold
or living in rhythm of life’s obligation
Fear is just waiting for me to grow old
or dying without feeling love’s exhilaration

My piece shows how our concept of fear evolves throughout our lives. It is a Catalog Poem, where each stanza conveys a different idea of fear. The first stanza is our young, childhood fears. The second is the tween/teenager fears. The third is the adult, real world fears that most people feel when thinking of their future and contemplating whether they are living life to it's full potential.
