The Boy in the Raincoat

March 11, 2018

In the gray, shadowed sleet,

Hear a voice, simple, sweet,

Raincoat wrapped 'round a form,

Lonely, weeping, in the storm.

Crying, huddled, all alone,

Starving, thin, just skin and bone,

Clutching cold as raindrops fall,

Silver mist casts a pall.

Gnawing hunger seems to fade,

Feeling frost's sharpened blade,

A lonely boy in a raincoat dies,

Singing simple lullabies.
