That's How It Was
Dry and sharp Desolate and Dangerous
Like the work of an evil child
Unwanted in this land
Friendly as the bad lands
The grieving skies
Turned what little water we had left to a dangerous metal
Hundreds of miles over of burn and flash with all manner of colored fires
And yet it gets very cold
Month after month after month I lay my hate and grudge against this bewildering land
He's afraid of this place, further that so was I
Running to get away from the unearthly landscape
Forgive your little faults and foibles
This new place drew in the stranger's admiration
She was hungry to talk, and full of talk
Far from being frightful
As beautiful as the clarity of light
A very explosion of dazzling jewels
The starlight a silver glow in the sky
The ravines lost their burned and dreadful look
Crackle of branches friendlier than day
Trapped in color, trapped by the strange landscape which shouted with color
One cannot make the words too strong

This was a found poem, using pieces from John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charlie" and Mark Twain's "Weather of New England"
This poem follows the story of my origonal characters Demeanor and Nefarious from my world called Eldoon. They came from a place much like the underworld, which is described with the start of the poem. They are assigned to do a project on earth, which they find to be a beautiful place with so many possibilitys that couldn't have even been thought of back in their home world. They befriend a girl named Fish and she shows them around Eldoon- which for the most part is very earth like, without technology.
From this poem, I hope people see no matter where you are, whatever your doing, no matter your past, no matter how terrible, you can always find a way to change it, and become whom ever you wish to be.
