She was afraid

She was terrified of the silence

She didn't rightly belong here

She was afraid

Running to get away from the unearthly landscape

Not prepared

She was afraid

Here is where the map should fold

Like the work of an evil child

She was afraid

Dry and sharp, desolate and dangerous

The road surface tore viciously

She was afraid

It was strange only because I found it so

I came on it in amazement

No trees crashes down

No snow falls

I came on it in amazement

The strange landscape shouted with color

Far from being frightful

I came on it in amazement

Swept clean of clouds and telescopically clear

A land of milk and honey

I came on it in amazement

All lines come from "Travels With Charley" by John Steinbeck. This is a found poem.
