strange land
Frightened time
The grieving sky turned the little water into dangerous metal
Dry, sharp, desolate and dangerous
For me filled with foreboding
They are like the work of an evil child
Early morning swept clean of clouds
Lips scaly as snakeskin
Her voice rattled on as though she was terrified of the silence
Nearly talked my arm off, she was hungry to talk, frantic to talk
But with shyness as though I crashed a party
The strange landscape
And the late afternoon changed everything
The Badlands had become the Good lands
It was beautiful
Lost their burned and dreadful look
Trapped in a color and dazzled by the clarity of life
The strange landscape shouted with color
Far from being frightful
Land of milk and honey
For the stars were so close, and although there was no moon the starlight made a silver glow
The night was friendlier than the day
Was lovely beyond thought
I can't explain it, that’s how it was
