Tap Heaven

March 8, 2018

Black tap shoes with leather soles blister my feet like a spanked child.
Fearless, I become heroic and dance with the infant.
Who knew heaven could drop grounds? Bye-bye, Buffalo, New York.

The author's comments:

I have been a dancer for 15 years. This week, I am learning tap choreography for North East School of the Arts’s annual show Footnotes: A Concert of Dance. I have what you call “typical dancer feet,” because they’re filled with callusses, dry skin, and blisters. This past week reminded me of how often I injure myself; 2018 will be the start of my journey and will continue, infinitely.
