Nervous
During this experience I was two feet away but I could tell you never knew
While approaching the classroom door the only thought in your mind was the class full of thirty students waiting for you to mess up
In the library we were the only two people there, sitting down at the brown wood tables with nothing but silence in the air
As she reflected on her first day as an intern we went on to exchange experiences
Opening the door presented a situation which was familiar to both of us, a five second interaction that felt like five minutes
The couple kissing across the hallway
The splattered white paint on the door
The three sharp clicks of the silver door handle as she struggled to enter a perceived darkness
As she walks in she could hear the clock ticking every second
The black iPads and white snowflakes past the clear windows made her feel like nothing about this experience had color
The butterflies had entered her stomach and her mindset was the only thing that made that happen
It was an uncontrollable rush up and down her body
While introducing herself this mindset had taken over everything
Her knees buckling
Her fingers by her side
As the period passed this experience was slowly fading away
In that moment we both knew we were here to stay but that feeling hadn’t kicked in yet
