First Kiss
his eyes were bright and green
a perfect match to spring
which was blossoming all around us
he had a crooked smile
that I liked to call "my" smile
he held out his arms
and walked over to me
he carefully took my hand
as he laced his fingers in mine
softly in my ears he whispered
"I love you"
those three simple words
coming from him
to me
suddenly meant so much more
I knew right then and there
that he had to be the one
you only get one first kiss
and I knew that I wanted him
to be my
first kiss
in an apple orchard
behind my grandfathers house
I wrapped my arms around his neck
and got up on my tip-toes
I whispered back
"I love you too"
squeezed my eyes shut
and I felt his lips
warm on mine
like the gentle spring breeze
that day
with that boy
when I got
my first kiss
