"Just because something works doesn't mean it can't be improved."

The thing I love about fandom

is that it's hopeless and random.

Meeting all sorts of characters who

you love, who you'd die for.

The Avengers, for example.

Steve Rogers is so humble,

Tony Stark filled with bravado.

Natasha's filled with fierce,

and Thor's got swagger.

Like Stranger Things with

Dustin and Lucas and Mike and Eleven,

with Steve and Jonathan and Nancy and Will.

It's a story about a small town, sinister secrets,

and fighting for your friends and family.

Like Doctor Who  with Eleven and the Ponds,

Ten and Donna, traveling, having fun.

Not everyone can have adventures, but

when you can, allons-y, geronimo!

Like Sherlock with John and Sherlock,

Lestrade and Moriarty.

Two men sitting in a flat,

their homes for the rest of their lives,

solving crimes.

This is what fandom's like.

It's callous and swift and filled with strife.

So please don't laugh, for them we feel

And, for heaven's sake, don't say,

"It's not even real."

The author's comments:

This piece was inspired by my love of fictional characters, who don't even feel fictional. To me, they're real.
