You make me want to drive up the California coast
And throw away what it is I love most
Fade away just like another ghost

This makes the road seem a little sweeter than it is
Like a Sunday afternoon forgotten kiss
Like a boxer who just lowered his fist

We’re in a firefight and our ship is sinking down
Please patch her up because I’m about to drown
We’re about to drown

I make the nights longer than they should be
Tears coming down when I leave
But you’re asking me to climb a fallen tree

You’re like the water who lets a prophet walk on you
Stopping every wave you try to move
You’re longing to love the crescent moon

We’re in a firefight and our ship is sinking down
Please patch her up because I’m about to drown
We’re about to drown

So make me want to drive back on down the coast
Picking from the trash what I love most
Reappear just like another ghost
Make me want to drive back down the coast

This is a song that expresses my emotions during a desperate time.
