Blaze of Fire
When I grow up,
I want to slingshot myself
Up among the glitter glue of the night sky.
I want to crash down
And land in a giant cumulous marshmallow.
I want to feel the blazing heat
Of the sun when it smiles at me.
When I grow up,
I want to stomp and kick
In pools on road after a spring shower.
I want to see a blaze of fire
Atop my birthday cake.
I want to hear the scrape
Of my chalk on the cement, as I create masterpieces.
When I grow up,
I want to see the positive
In the dismal.
I want to marvel
At the ordinary.
I want to grow and mature,
But not change.
